We all want the American dream of working for ourselves, and to be able to spend more time with our family and loved-ones. There are steps you must take to ensure that you will make it and not just be floating in the wind!

One of the first and foremost Steps is Staying Focused:
You must stay focused on what you are doing it is far to easy to get distracted and lose precious hours on useless surfing..
While doing your tasks for the day don't let anything get in your way of finishing them, stay on track and when you are finished with your daily tasks, then you can reward your self by doing what you enjoy!
One way to accomplish this is by setting daily goals for you to do, and at the end of the day when the goals you have set are complete reward yourself with a pat on the back or what ever you desire!
The second Step is to Stay Dedicated to what you are doing!
Far to many times have I seen people go from one thing to another before they ever finish the last project!
Once you start something see it through until it is making you money, getting you traffic or what ever the project is for, make sure it is in motion before you go to your other projects. Many people join the internet in the hopes of getting rich quick, they are new to the internet hype and jump on opportunity after opportunity, and never get any where, so they decide it isn't worth it or you can't make money online.. and continue to do this over and over!
I tell you, you must find a niche, something you enjoy, learn all you can about it and become an expert in this niche, learn all you can about marketing and getting traffic then start your business!
There is plenty of room out there for us all, but you have to have the ambition and desire to succeed if you want to make it!
You must have targeted traffic to succeed, Step Three!
Targeted Traffic you say? Yes targeted, you must have targeted traffic to succeed!
I am going to give a few examples of how to get targeted traffic!
1. Start an e-zine or online newsletter!
An e-zine or newsletter is the best thing you can ever start! You get people to subscribe by offering them something of value, such as a free e-book or a daily email course. You must be able to give them quality information if you ever want it to become a top must read by your subscribers, and once you gain their trust and brand yourself as an expert, your list will be gold.. Just don't take advantage and send ad after ad and no value!
2. Write articles and submit them for use in other newsletters!
Articles are a great way to get free-targeted traffic! But they have to be helpful, informational and contain good content..
So what you need to do is search for good content on the web for resources in you niche market, and compile a couple of good articles, you really need to spend time and get some good material and then write the articles! The next step is to submit them to e-zine(newsletter) owners! A good source of editors looking for content is at http://www.bizpromo.com/ezinetrades.htm go there and submit to as many as you can…
Also do searches on yahoo and all the web for article submitting, submit your article, I did some searches and here are the results for "submit your article" you can try different searches such as if you had a marketing site try submit your marketing articles!

Go to as many as you can and start submitting them, do this as long as you can stand it!
Now build a page on your site called articles and put your articles up for the world to see and take(Make sure you put your resource box at the bottom) and let your visitors know their there for the taking as long as your resource box is left intact!
When you build the article page put plenty of keywords in it and then submit your main site with the links to your article pages to the search engines!
You need to spend some time really getting these out to e-zines, and the traffic will start coming, you need to at-least try to write one article per week until you get a few compiled and be sure to submit them! It also builds your link popularity, which will increase your search-engine results!
3. Write a Viral e-book or small course!
Write a small e-book that has a lot of great information and tips in it, And give it away free, or for subscribing to your newsletter, and allow your visitors to give it away free to their visitors, once this begins to grow it will be unstoppable and will supply unlimited targeted traffic to your site forever!
Getting traffic to your site is only half the battle! Step Four!
The other half is turning prospects into customers and customers into repeat sales! You must have a product that helps people solve a problem or makes life easier, you can get all the traffic in the world but if you can't sell them on your product or service, you might as well not even be in business!
Because all the traffic in the world won't help your site, so make sure you have your site designed to make the sell, make the visitor feel comfortable about ordering, tell them how they will benefit from your product or service, and by all means get their email address so you can follow up!
Where do you live, what's your name, and who are you? Step Five!
Make a customer wonder and you have lost the sale! Always add your information to your site, don't let the visitor start wondering if he can trust you, eliminate that from the get go, just add your information, and a way for them to contact you about your product or service or just to ask you a question, give them a guarantee that if their not satisfied they can get a refund…
Well that's about it, if you follow these five steps your sure to succeed!
